How we did not migrate to Istio Ambient mode

In this session, I’ll share our journey of evaluating a migration from a sidecar-based Istio mesh to Ambient mode and why we have not made the the switch (yet). We’ll start with our current architecture and the pain points that made us re-evaluate. Then we’ll look at what Ambient promised and walk through our proposed architecture of running Istio in a sidecar-ambient hybrid mode. We’ll review our PoC findings and justify our decision to defer the migration. We’ll then conclude with a live demo of Ambient and Sidecar workloads coexisting in a single mesh.
